Job DescriptionThe Head of Procurement - Corporate Services plans and leads all strategic aspects of the Corporate Services domain (P&O, Finance, Consulting, Legal, External Workforce, Fleet, Insurance, etc.) and related outsourcing services globally. The role develops strategic business proposals and provides high-value, multi-year procurement solutions to the business and category strategies, and supports third-party vendor selection, development, technology management, and performance measurement.
This position ensures best-in-class delivery of external services and products, driving year-on-year productivity improvements, cost savings, and process enhancements in collaboration with business stakeholders. Reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer, the role holder is a member of the Sandoz Procurement Leadership Team (SPLT) and partners with the Chief Talent Officer and Chief Legal Officer and their teams.
Your main responsibilities:Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Drive and implement category strategic goals from the overall Procurement strategy.
- Derive game-changing strategies by defining clear category objectives, working with analytical data, business stakeholders, and market expertise. Align strategies to measurable targets and clearly convey them to the organization.
- Establish and manage a fit-for-purpose supplier ecosystem.
- Participate in and/or lead financial discussions. Apply financial knowledge to actively participate, e.g., in the budgeting process, including tax aspects in sourcing strategies and structuring sophisticated deals with ecosystem partners.
- Map the value chain, analyze it, and derive potential scenarios. This includes understanding and applying total cost of ownership and should-cost modeling.
- Compliance and risk management: support reports to determine appropriate compliance levels. Monitor end-to-end compliance (budget, payment, vendor PO, contract invoice, buying channel, etc.) and derive corrective actions to improve compliance.
- Support the definition and implementation of the Procurement process simplification, digitization, and automation program related to the category and beyond.
- Embed the Procurement ESG strategy in category management and sourcing.
Demand management - Responsible for ensuring the right balance between business needs and Sandoz strategy.
- Accountable for working with stakeholders to identify the most cost-effective ways to deliver business objectives.
Sourcing and supplier relationships management- Lead strategic supply partner relationships under the 'Pioneering Together' program to deliver exceptional and holistic benefits to Sandoz and ultimately to our patients.
- Execute the Source-to-Contract process, including respective strategies, approaches, and methods: preparing and conducting fact-based negotiations, and adapting tactics from a broad portfolio of negotiation strategies to achieve results that support business and Procurement objectives.
Business Partnering & Engagement- Actively enlist senior leaders and their teams' support within P&O, Legal and Finance functions.
- Achieve results by proactively building long-term, sustainable, and effective relationships, understanding the stakeholder landscape, and demonstrating political astuteness across business structures and networks.
Change Management- Act as impactful change leader within the PLT, for your team and with your stakeholders.
- Build rapport and secure buy-in from cross-functional stakeholders for major Procurement initiatives.
- Deliver change management and training to promote new processes and new tools and methodologies.
- Work within the current organizational complexity, with limited process commonality and uniformity of data.
What you'll bring to the role:Essential requirements:
- A university degree is required; a master's degree or other advanced-level degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Over 15 years of relevant business experience in the Pharmaceutical, Generics, FMCG, or other low-margin industries.
- Candidates MUST bring more than 10 years of procurement expertise, including category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier management, with a particular focus on indirect services procurement and in-depth experience in employee services, external workforce management, finance, tax, and consulting domains.
- A proven track record of designing and delivering transformational initiatives that result in accelerated value creation within corporate procurement categories is essential.
- Experience with spend optimization programs such as Zero-Based Budgeting, including demand management and stakeholder mobilization.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating complex, multi-year outsourcing deals.
- Strong leadership skills, with extensive direct line management experience in an international environment.
- Proficient in managing geographically dispersed teams and experienced in working within virtual team structures.
- Skilled in senior stakeholder management.
