The Head Procurement External Supply Bio develops the category and supplier strategy in close alignment with senior business stakeholders, plans and steers category initiatives and projects, manages supply and business risk, and influences critical strategic business decisions. Supplier relationship management, performance measurement, compliance and risk management and market knowledge in the FDF Biologics are essential for this role.
The Head Procurement External Supply Bio is also accountable for the category spend, realizes year-on-year productivity and cost savings opportunities, actively manages and challenges demand and implements process efficiencies in close collaboration with business stakeholders. This role therefore requires leadership skills, strong business acumen and distinct communication skills with senior business stakeholders and top management.
Your responsibilities:Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Implement category strategy and create value for the organization
- Planning, organizing, and managing projects in line with the overall company, Procurement and FDF biologics strategy within the defined scope, resources, timeline and achieving the targeted cost objectives
- Ensure value creation for the organization and key stakeholders by realizing defined cost reduction, savings and other Procurement relevant targets
- Overseeing the implementation and timely go-live of FDF Biologics sourcing projects in close alignment with relevant business stakeholders
- Analyzing and understanding pricing models, spend patterns, total cost of ownership and should-be cost models; designing and implementing most beneficial pricing and cost models
- Participating and leading financial discussions e.g. in budgeting process, in negotiations with third parties and with internal stakeholders
- Compliance and risk management: ensure compliant sourcing processes and supplier management; identifying potential risk and related impact, and define and execute risk mitigation plans jointly with respective functions; adherence to Procurement and other relevant policies, guidelines and SOPs
- Understanding and projecting market dynamics and related impacts (e.g. mergers and acquisitions, disruptions) and perform required adjustments to category or sourcing strategies as needed
- Using Procurement tools, promoting self-service Procurement applications, supporting implementation and expansion of process digitalization and automation
- Support improvement of overall data and process quality
- Critically observe market trends, continuously benchmark in/outside the industry, bring forward innovative solutions and actively drive change management
- Develop together with manufacturing strategy and the rest of the FDF biologics procurement team a plan to reduce exposure and dependency from key vendors
Demand management
- Ensure the right balance between business needs, quality and cost objectives in line with the overall Sandoz strategy
- Working with stakeholders to identify the most cost-effective ways to deliver business objectives
- Understanding and challenging demand patterns and drive change management to extract further value
- Supporting assessments, challenging and validating make-or-buy decisions
Sourcing and Supplier Relationships management
- Managing together with ESO Supplier Relationships throughout the contract lifecycle
- Planning and executing the Supplier Segmentation strategy in line with company, business and Procurement objectives
- Oversee the planning and executing sourcing projects and benchmark activities in the respective category
- Preparing and conducting fact-based negotiations; applying the right negotiation strategies to achieve results that support business and Procurement objectives
- Bringing innovative solutions from the market to internal stakeholders
- Ensuring continuous benchmarking against the market, peers and other industries; identifying and applying FDF Biologics specific best-practices
- Drive complex negotiations with key CMO's and in licensing partners
Manage relationships with stakeholders
- Building up strong and trustful relationships with key stakeholders
- Be the go-to-partner for Procurement, Supplier and Market relevant questions
- Understanding the stakeholders needs, landscape, challenges and objectives and demonstrating political astuteness across business structures and networks
- Ensuring proper communication and sharing of Procurement knowledge within the stakeholder group
- Take on accountability and responsibility for the financial impact of sourcing decisions for FDF Biologics.
- Create and maintain visibility of risk and opportunities to create bottom line value for SDZ.
Leadership skills
- Lead and mentor a global team of Procurement professionals by providing clear guidance, objectives and vision
- Develop Procurement professionals by providing continuous feedback and support personal growth and development
- Be point of escalation as needed and support solving conflicts
What you will bring to the role:Minimum requirements- University/Advanced level degree required. Master's degree/other advanced degree in Economics, Finance or related area is preferred.
- Fluent English (written and spoken) is essential. Additional languages are desirable
- >10 years of relevant business experience (industry specific experience).
- Preferably >10 years of experience in Procurement or other related experience within the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in category management, supplier management, or related area, with a focus in the FDF Biologics domain.
- Strong project management or other leadership experience.
