R&D Engineer Fractional Crystallization Research and Applications (m/w/d) - Full Time - Allschwil, Switzerland - fix term contract, 1 year

We are looking for a R&D Engineer to join our Fractional Crystallization Research and Applications (FCRA) team in Allschwil.
In this exciting role you will have full responsibility for planning, managing and executing internal and external R&D projects as well as equipment and laboratory management, while addressing a variety of R&D topics. You will also implement new workflows to capture, structure and analyse data, making the role a perfect balance between theoretical and practical tasks.
Your knowledge and experience will contribute to improving sustainability in the chemical industry and developing future technologies.
Your main tasks and responsibilities: - Planning, management, execution, evaluation and reporting of internal R&D project according to internal Stage & Gate process.
- Construction, maintenance and improvement of test facilities, support of process design and evaluation.
- Be responsible for analytical technologies. Ensure the implementation of new methods and operability of corresponding devices during the corresponding trials.
- Ensure and respect appropriate ESH measures and "good laboratory practice" during daily business. Actively contribute to management of change and risk assessments. Respect safety regulations and quality procedures, report near misses and incidents. Consider LEAN aspects at work.
- Work in close co-operation with internal company stakeholders, namely Crystallization sales, Project Managers, Process Engineers, InTech Test Center in Allschwil and the line manager of FCRA. Promote co-operation with external partners and universities.
- Contribute to internal training. Contribute to paper and patent writing in accordance with approval procedures.
- Contribute to the digitalization strategy development.
- Planning, management, execution, evaluation and documentation of client-related test campaigns.
- Promote knowhow transfer to sales and engineering, contribute to the creation of design guidelines, design tools and handbooks.
- Actively participate in project and equipment design reviews trouble-shooting and consultancy in start-up and commissioning of plants. Occasional commissioning at clients' site at home and abroad.
- Execute additional tasks assigned by line manager.
To succeed in this role, you will need: - Doctorate degree in Crystallization / Process or Chemical Engineering / Technical Chemistry.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in a similar role, or recent / soon to be Doctorate graduates that hold specific expertise in process or chemical engineering (Crystallization) and technical research.
- Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: prototype construction/design and/or process modelling.
- Chemicals handling experience is required (ideally through industry experience - through practicals during studies or internships will be considered).
- IT knowledge: Windows, Office; data bases; preferably experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB.
- Capable to prioritize tasks, strong sense of organization, independent work organization, team and customer oriented, creativity in finding solutions.
- Fluent English. German or French are an asset.

The Fractional Crystallization Research & Applications team is part of the Technology & Innovation Business Unit of Sulzer Chemtech.
Location: We are based in Allschwil. This is a great growing place and is just next to the nice city of Basel, accessible via bus and tram.
